Dr. B. McRannoch is in the Bahamas with her father who has moved there from Scotland because of asthma. She is a savvy and tough young lady who shows much independence of mind and spirit. As with all of the Johnson series, nothing is quite as straightforward as it at first seems, and there are many complicating factors to grip the reader as well as the added bonus of another exotic location.

She writes complicated plots with many characters, but I enjoy them all. I read this one twice, once right after the other.
entertaining, erudite, funny. Plots are similar w/ other Johnson-Johnson books, but if you are looking for relaxing entertainment you won't be disappointed.
I have loved her historical series but these are not readable.
This is a beautiful new trade paperback edition (10th anniversary of Dorothy Dunnett's death). I read the book years ago; had an old paperback copy, but I was wanting this new edition for my library. Glad I saw it on & bought it.
